In the coming months, ten Wilrijk streets will be transformed into “cinema streets”. Residents of the street in question, along with all other Wilrijk residents, are welcome with their own chair. The film is scheduled to premiere on Friday, August 6 at Koornbloemstraat: “Bohemian Rhapsody” about the life of Freddie Mercury, the leader of the rock band Queen.

Other cinema streets are Torenblokstraat, Pastoor Schattenstraat, Uitspanningstraat, Valaarstraat, Heldenplein, Frans De Cortlaan, Garden Citylaan, Schuurveldlaan and Monnikenplein. Movies include La La Land, Shrek, Allez, and Eddy! So it’s something for everyone. The shows are on a different day each time, the latest being on September 25th.

For the full program, on time, it is better to look at the cc De Kern website. Movies always start at dusk. “We close the street to traffic and ensure the picture, sound and sound are well adjusted, but not for the seats. Viewers should take care of that themselves. A big cushion or something similar is of course allowed,” said Wilrix Culture Council member Hans Eddes (CD&V).

Wilrijk District, Wilrijk Neighborhood Builders and De Kern Cultural Center set up the program in collaboration with residents. First, a call was launched for those who wanted the cinemas. From this a selection was made so that all neighborhoods would be covered and the films were selected by agreement.
