After the attack on an 11-year-old girl, there has already been much discussion about the American bully XL in the UK this week. Now that someone was attacked again yesterday, possibly by the same breed of dog, Prime Minister Rishi Sunak has made it clear: “We are taking all necessary steps to keep people safe, and we will ban this breed.”

Footage from last weekend (see video below) shows a dog attacking an 11-year-old girl on a Birmingham street. People then run to help her. Two men are then chased away and bitten themselves as they try to chase the animal away.

The girl suffered serious injuries to her shoulder and arms. The men also suffered injuries to their shoulders and arms.

This has led to a major debate in the country: should the government ban these types of dogs? The Home Secretary has described the breed as “dangerous to children” and indicated last Monday that she would urgently investigate whether she could ban the breed.

The investigation has now gained momentum, because yesterday another attack took place in the UK. This time it ended much worse: a man was attacked by two dogs in Staffordshire, England. He suffered multiple injuries and later died at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham. A 30-year-old man was later arrested on suspicion of failing to control his dogs.

Police have yet to determine what type of dog was involved, but Prime Minister Sunak has just announced that it is “likely to be the American bully XL again”. “He is a danger to our communities, especially our children, and I share the horror that the country is experiencing from the recent videos we have all seen,” Sunak said on Channel X.

He says it’s now clear to him that it’s not “a bunch of poorly trained dogs.” “It’s a pattern of behavior and it can’t continue like this.”

The American Bully (also called the American Bully) is a relatively new American breed with a fearsome appearance. It is a cross between several breeds, including the American Bulldog and the American Pit Bull. The XL is the largest type and can grow to a dog weighing more than 50 pounds.

In recent years, according to British media, two children have been killed by an American bully. Last year, a 17-month-old girl was killed. After the attack of the young man Who was received by her family a week ago. It was two years ago. 10 year old boy.

Still banned this year

There are four breeds banned in the UK – the American Pit Bull Terrier, the Japanese Tosa, the Argentinean Terrier and the Fila Brazilian. The law that makes this possible, the Dangerous Dogs Act, allows for the banning of breeds of dogs bred for fighting or with characteristics of a breed bred for that purpose. Sunak says the American Bully XL will be added to the list before the end of the year.

“While dog owners already have a responsibility to keep their dogs under control, I want to reassure people that we are urgently working to find ways to stop these attacks and protect the public.”

The Netherlands does not have a list of banned dogs.

Pit bulls were banned in the Netherlands, but the Netherlands now does not have a blacklist of banned breeds as in Great Britain. This was not done intentionally, because, for example, dog breeding also has an effect and this ban can be easily circumvented by crossing breeds and giving the dog a new name.

The rules applied here for dog breeding revolve around harmful external characteristics. There is something like this: Prohibition of breeding dogs with very short muzzlesBecause dogs with short snouts are more prone to health problems. Also describes the rules Breeders must prevent the transmission of serious behavioral abnormalities. In addition, reproduction must be natural. Therefore, no artificial insemination or caesarean section without medical necessity.

So the American Bully is not banned in the Netherlands and will not easily become so. But Kelly Kissen, veterinarian at Dier&Recht, said: Earlier this week against RTL News The dog often has these harmful external characteristics. “Many of these dogs have a very short muzzle, in addition to being dogs with a very stocky build, low, crooked legs and broad shoulders, which causes problems in childbirth and joint diseases. These types of dogs are usually bred in an unnatural way, by artificial insemination or birth by planned caesarean section. It is actually very simple, you are not allowed to continue procreating.”
