According to the police, about 100 migrants attacked a group of 60 officers and, among other things, threw stones. Thursday began relatively quietly with the evacuation of a camp near a hospital in the coastal city, which was carried out without incident.

But then a group of immigrants got angry on the southeast edge of town, where there is a large parking lot for trucks. According to eyewitnesses, the migrants threw themselves at the officers very violently, according to local media. The officers defended themselves with tear gas and weapons that fired non-lethal shells or bullets. Calais is a base for many immigrants to go to England in trucks, trains or boats.
