Benefit Gala “The Changing Scene”

Together for the earthquake victims in Turkey and Syria

A special concert will take place on Thursday, March 23rd at 8 pm at the Tabloo Visitor Center in Dessel. Four brand-new pieces, created by Eva Aguilar, Yngwie Janseghers, Davide Paolillo and Alice Hoi Ching Yeung, a group of talented young composers who attended Thames Academy, are presented to the world.

In each of the four world premieres, the composers paint a picture of a shifting landscape, each with a different setting, time, and emotional state. Its performance is in the expert hands of HERMESensemble.

After the concert there is an opportunity to visit the landscape exhibition at Jacob Smits’ Change. Jacob Smits (1855-1928) was sensitive to landscapes, which he cherished. He offers us a unique view of his environment from his philosophy of life. The fact that the landscape needed to change during this period of industrialization is noticeable under the skin of his work and is highlighted in the exhibition. Smits holds a unique position as a landscape painter. He did not plant his donkey in the landscape, but he portrayed his mule Achterbus in composite compositions preceded by hundreds of sketches.

By keeping the doors open longer, there is the potential to view and appreciate this beautiful collection in detail.

It is expected to be an unforgettable evening that celebrates the power of music, creativity and a changing landscape.

Proceeds from this evening will go to Consortium 12-12 which provides humanitarian aid to earthquake victims in Turkey and Syria.

In memory of Wim Hendrix, Founder of SoundMine and Times Academy.
