You are also the point of contact for questions to the internal GÉANT Foundation. You advise on the most appropriate way to purchase, and together with your customer you carry out purchases independently. In addition, it evaluates requisitions and ensures that the purchase process goes as smoothly as possible. Together with your fellow purchasing and financial partners, you will continue to work on the optimal purchase. You will work closely with the procurement team in Cambridge for this.

In addition to supporting GÉANT, you also support fellow purchasing. You provide your colleagues with current and valid purchasing data (spend analysis) and you are the driving force behind many projects within GÉANT Procurement. Finally, you and your colleague ensure that the purchasing tools used and/or developed at GÉANT are in order and maintained.

You are responsible for various activities:

  • In the organization you work as a procurement ambassador
  • Evaluates purchase orders and ensures a smooth and efficient purchasing process
  • Make standalone purchases (mainly private quotation procedures)
  • Executes independent orders via the Dynamic Procurement System (DAS)
  • You provide reliable purchasing data to your fellow purchasers and other stakeholders
  • You manage purchasing documents and purchasing tools
  • You contribute to further process improvements in contract and supplier management
  • You support audits by your accountant and the European Commission

What do we offer

You support social causes and travel several times a year to Cambridge and possibly other European destinations.

This role is offered in Amsterdam on a 12-month contract with the option to continue on a permanent contract.

what we ask for
You have made the choice to further develop yourself as a buyer, it is really good to have already gained some buying experience in the public sector. For this position, it is important to have a proactive attitude, to take the initiative yourself when you define things and not to let yourself get discouraged when something doesn’t work right away. You are able to work alone and as part of a team. You are creative, driven and positive. Since all the activities must be done in English, it is very important that you speak English and can write it well. This profile will be one of the few Dutch documents you will encounter at GÉANT.

In addition, you have:

  • Minimum HBO level education.
  • Procurement experience, preferably in the public sector.
  • Good communication skills.
  • An affinity with information technology or work in an organization involved in information technology.
  • Analytical skills and an eye for detail.
