The British director has achieved fame through her vivid studies of upper-middle-class relationships and her insightful reflections on artistic life. After studying cinema in London, where she graduated in 1986 with a short film fancy (starring a young Tilda Swinton), has worked in television for nearly 20 years, directing a variety of series episodes.
