Diana Ross’ party in a flashback special


On the evening of Tuesday 5th April from 8-9pm, you can tune in to a special flashback of a 1994 concert by Diana Ross in Ahoy Rotterdam. Listen on 107.8 FM.

Diana Ernestine Ross, better known to the general public as Diana Ross, is an American soul singer. She became known in the 1960s with The Supremes and then launched her own successful career.

When Ross left The Suprems in 1969 to launch a solo career, she also immediately got her first hit, which was written by the duo Ashford & Simpson.

In 1970, Ross began her film career, starring in the film adaptation of the life of Billie Holiday, Lady Sings The Blues. She received an Oscar nomination for this role.

In 1973, Ross and Marvin Gaye released a duet album, Diana and Marvin. Several songs from this album became huge hits.

In 1975, Ross returned to the silver screen in the movie Mahogany. The title song Do You Know Where You’re Going became No. 1.

In 1978, Ross played Dorothy in the musical The Wiz. Michael Jackson as the Scarecrow, Paul McCartney as the Tin Man and Lionel Richie as the Fearless Lion, and the single from Ease On Down The Road was a huge hit.

In the 1980s, her career began to decline, and to prevent this, the record company contacted The Bee Gees to write a hit for Ross. This collaboration worked well and the song “Chain Reaction” led to a #1 hit.

On October 16 and 17, 2009, Ross headlined Symphonica in Rosso. Ross performed at the GelreDome in Arnhem to 34,000 people every night.

Supertonic Mixes was released in 2020, featuring house producer Eric Cooper introducing her greatest hits with a new remix.

On 4 June 2022, she performed at the Anniversary Gala at Buckingham Palace in London to celebrate the 70th reign of Queen Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom.
