Foiling a possible attack on the Vienna Pride parade | outside

Austrian police have arrested three young men, two of them minors, accused of planning an attack on Pride in Vienna. According to the Austrian intelligence service, the suspects, aged between 14, 17 and 20, are sympathizers of the Islamic State (IS).

The suspects were arrested before the start of the Pride parade on Saturday. According to the authorities, the participants in the festivities were not at all in danger. About 300,000 people participated in the LGBT rights parade.

During home searches on Saturday, weapons and other evidence were found. According to the intelligence service, detonators, an axe, gas pistols, throwing stars and knives were found. Police said the suspects planned to use “knives or vehicles” in the attack.

They have sympathized with the Islamic State online and shared extremist content. In this context, the suspects targeted the Pride March as a possible target for an attack.”
