Genesis is coming to Europe in 2021. Already this summer, Hyundai’s luxury brand will be selling cars in Germany, Switzerland and the United Kingdom, followed by other European countries. There will be new offers, however Genesis also counts online sales. They did not come to boost confidence because the audience is at Audi, BMW and Mercedes. But with what cars do they want to fight the German trio?
Genesis G70 & GV70
Genesis wants to cut the G70 Audi A4, BMW 3 Series and Mercedes C-Class. We already know the technical basics from Kia, because the architecture is from Stinger. The engine range is well known: 2.0 T-GTI with 250 hp, 3.3 T-GTI V6 with 370 hp and 2.2 CRDI with 200 hp. You can order the best version with four wheel drive including sliding mode.
The Genesis GV70 is an SUV derivative of the G70, thus competing with the Audi Q5 (Sportback), BMW X3 (X4) and Mercedes GLC (Coupe), but the Alfa Romeo Stevio, Jaguar F – 60s or Volvo 60s.
Genesis G80 & GV80
Launched in 2020, the Genesis G80 is a competitor to the Audi A6, BMW 5 Series and E-Class, although its sleek exterior design is eager to be an alternative to the Audi A7 Sportback or Mercedes CLS. In the United States, you have a choice between 2.5 with six and 3.5 with six cylinders, 304 hp and 380 hp. For other markets, Genesis developed a diesel-powered G80 with a power output of 210 hp and 2.2 liters. It is not yet clear which machines will be offered in Europe.
Genesis GV80 is the SUV version of the G80, so it is an alternative to the Audi Q7, BMW X5 and Mercedes GLE. The GV80 can be brought to Europe as a plugin hybrid.
For 5 models in 2022
By 2022, there will already be five models in the Genesis range, including three fully electric cars. This may be the G80E, the product version of the Genesis G80 electrified concept recently unveiled at the Shanghai Auto Show 2021. Also a completely new model in the Hyundai Ionic 5 and The-GMP configuration Kia EV6 Build. For now, we have to guess the third EV model, however we are betting on Genesis GV70.
