Hyzon Motors Inc. It is announced that the Board of Directors has elected Eric Anderson as Chairman of the Board, effective August 24, 2023. Anderson replaces George Gu, who has resigned from his position. The Board also elected Andrea Varas as Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of Hyzon Corporation.
Anderson, who has been a member of Hyzon’s board of directors since 2021, is known as a global innovation leader and investor, holding leadership positions across various industries.
As the founder and CEO of the WestRiver Group, Anderson has extensive experience leading business growth, scaling organizations and raising capital for growing companies. He led four decarbonization Special Purpose Acquisition Companies (SPACs), searching for impactful companies with scalable solutions to decarbonize the global economy. He is also Vice President of Topgolf Callaway Brands and previously served as CEO of Topgolf Entertainment Group.
Anderson is also CEO of the Singularity Group, a global community that uses exponential technologies to solve the world’s most pressing challenges. Among others, he was awarded the EY Entrepreneur of the Year Award, and received the Transformative CEO Award from The CEO Forum Group. Andrea Varas, our new Vice Chairman, is an experienced director and leader with a long global career of more than 40 years in finance and general corporate management, including 20 years with Citigroup as CEO or COO of a number of institutional firms.
He has a significant background in corporate governance and has chaired or served on numerous public and private boards of directors, including those of regulated companies. He is currently Chairman of HBL Bank UK, a UK-regulated full-service bank, and sits on the board of two FinTech companies based in the UK, Germany and Italy. He also brings a unique global perspective to Hyzon, having led financial and industrial firms in the US, UK, Central Eastern Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Italy, Japan and Asia in his career.
