“I’m not dying yet”

Alexander Lukashenko told the Belarusian news agency Belta that he was infected with adenovirus. “If anyone thinks I’m going to die, calm down. Take it easy. This is nothing more than an alibi on instant messaging and Telegram channels. I was suffering from adenovirus,” said the Belarusian president.

Adenoviruses exist in different types. They are contagious diseases often accompanied by a respiratory infection, eye infection, or gastroenteritis with diarrhea.

Lukashenko also explained that he had a very busy schedule lately, and because of this, the President of the Republic of Belarus did not have time to undergo treatment. I had to go to Moscow, to St. Petersburg. It all came together. But I’m not dead yet guys! ”

Military parade

The rumor mill started after the May 9 military parade on Red Square in Moscow in honor of Victory Day, which is a holiday in Russia. Lukashenko was there, but he looked restless in his seat in the stands.

Moments later, he allowed himself to be transported 300 meters to the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in a cart, while the other guests covered the distance on foot. He also missed a dinner with the heads of state present and returned to Belarus early.

There he appeared briefly during the Victory Day celebration in Minsk, but did not speak. This has never happened before. Since then, Lukashenko has not been seen in public. But his press service last week distributed a photo that was to have been taken during a visit to his Air Force.
