In pictures: It all happened on the red carpet during the opening of the movie By the Sea

Flashing cameras, famous Dutch people and many movie lovers. These were the ingredients for the opening ceremony of By the Sea. Photographer Jürgen Quisthout beautifully captured how the visitors, including actor Monique Hendricks, Minister of State for Culture and Information Gunay Oslo, and poet Bart Chabot, walked the red carpet.

The film festival opened on Friday, September 8, with a traditional gala evening. After the red carpet, visitors were received by festival director Jan Doens. Outgoing Minister of Culture and Information Junai Oslo also gave a speech, after which the opening film Perfect Days was shown.

Visitors and curious people who came to have a look at the red carpet could see familiar faces passing by. Famous Dutch people like Francine Oommen, Monique Hendricks, Eva Coles, Pieter van Dongen, Wim Hofmann, Bart Chabot, Heidi d’Ancona, Angette van der Zijl and Roel van Bambpost went to the Vlissingen Film Festival.

The evening concluded with singer Mia Nicolai. Earlier this year, she performed during the Eurovision Song Contest in the UK. The famous German actress Nastassja Kinski, who caused a stir in the 1980s, was also present. However, she arrived later because her plane was delayed.
