In the United Kingdom, tobacco whitefly is an isolated pest. Has 0 tolerance. Cargo found to contain this organism is not allowed to enter the UK. The United Kingdom is actively investigating the presence of the tobacco whitefly and in August the British will visit the Netherlands to inspect the organism.
Responsibility of the exporter
The Netherlands should try to reduce the number of interceptions of this species. NVWA reiterates that it is the exporter’s responsibility to ensure that plants and plant products meet the import requirements of the destination country.
