Is seaweed a panacea for your health?

file

Chlorophyll, water with chia seeds and endless amount of green juices: Tiktok is full of treats that will boost our health. The latest hype: sea moss. If Kim Kardashian and Cardi B are to be believed, this stuff will work wonders for your heart, gut, thyroid, and overall health. But is this actually true?

Is seaweed healthy?

Although sea algae does indeed contain many nutrients and vitamins, there is no scientific evidence that it actually benefits our health. If you still want to give it a try, it is important that you respect the recommended amount. After all, sea moss contains a lot of iron, iodine and magnesium. An excess of these substances can cause serious medical problems. For sea algae gels, a daily tablespoon limit usually applies. For supplements and powders, it is best to read the information leaflet. Caution: If you have thyroid problems, be sure to contact your doctor first to avoid additional complications.
