Sand dunes (United States 2021). Action movie from Denis Villeneuve. With Timothée Chalamet, Zendaya, Rebecca Ferguson, Jason Momoa and Sharon Duncan Brewster. We write 10191 and to explain the relationships in the universe you need a whole book (book Frank Herbert, from 1965, on which this film is based) or two films, because director Villeneuve only completed half the book with this film. It’s actually called Dune Sand dunes part 1 It is about a noble quest Paul Atreides (Chalamet), who must fight rebellious Fremen, the forces of the Intergalactic Emperor, and giant sandworms on the desert planet Arrakis.
The dunes are constantly balancing on an impressive and hideous edge, crossing it occasionally, but not a single boring second (out of over two and a half hours) and it is stunningly beautifully shot. The music is composed by Hans Zimmer, who is now one of the most prolific film composers and certainly one of the most successful film composers of the moment, and the first (!) album containing parts of the film’s soundtrack was released in early September 2021: Dune Sketchbook. A week later the “real” soundtrack was released.
