Hollywood actor Kevin Spacey has appeared in a London court, where he has to answer four sexual assault complaints against three men.
Haunted by the paparazzi, but a smiling Kevin Spacey walked from a silver Mercedes to Westminster Magistrates Court in London. He will face four charges of sexually assaulting three men in the UK. The cases occurred between 2005 and 2013, when he was the artistic director of London’s famous Old Vic Theatre.
The 62-year-old Academy Award winner has denied all the allegations. Last month, he told ABC News he was confident a trial would prove his innocence. It hasn’t come to that yet. Today, Kevin Spacey Fowler, as recorded, only had to mention his name, date of birth and address. For example, he had to make it clear that he didn’t want to be taken up by the last name he had worn since birth, Fowler, but by the name the world has known him by since he started using his middle name as a nickname.
The attorney general has requested that measures be taken to prevent Spacey from leaving the UK. This happened out of concern that the actor might want to avoid his sentence. The court refused to comment, because Spacey has so far actively cooperated with the investigation in the United States and voluntarily appeared in the courtroom in London. It has been said that Spacey has to travel a lot for work and that he has a family and a dog in the States. Then the next session was scheduled: July 14. But until then, the actual lawsuit is not expected until long after, as British courts struggle with a huge backlog.
The first complaints against Spacey surfaced in 2017, in the wake of the scandal surrounding film producer Harvey Weinstein. Then actor Anthony Rapp said that 26-year-old Spacey assaulted him when he was 14 years old. Since then, many certifications have appeared, both in the US and the UK. The first trial takes place five years later. It’s also one of the few Metoo cases involving a celebrity that leads to criminal prosecution. Weinstein and Bill Cosby have also been tried.
Spacey won an Academy Award for his supporting role in The usual suspects And one for his leadership role in American beauty† But after these allegations, he was eliminated from the final season of house of paper† As Ridley Scott erased it from his movie All the money in the world His scenes were reshot with Christopher Plummer in his role.
