Larry “Major Nelson” Harib left Microsoft after 22 years

Larry “Major Nelson” Hryb, one of the most recognizable faces of Xbox, has announced that he is leaving Microsoft after 22 years. He will now take a break and spend some time with his family before moving on to the next chapter of his career. It is not known what this next chapter will be.

Hreib has worked for Microsoft since 2001. He started there as Editor-in-Chief for MSN Music and joined the Xbox team two years later. As Senior Product Manager, he focused primarily on the development of Xbox Live. In addition, he would be a major contributor to the Xbox Achievements system and group chat. In 2012, he became Senior Director of Corporate Communications.

Over the years, Hryb has played an important and widely respected role in Xbox Community communications. As Major Nelson, Hryb was often present announcing matters through blogs, live broadcasts, podcasts, and shows.
