Lecture: Unraveling the Secrets of the Universe through Observational Cosmology (Leiden, in English)

The Rijkmuseum Boerhaave and the Lorentz Center are organizing a lecture on Thursday evening 16 March. Unraveling the secrets of the universe through observational cosmology. The English lecture will be given by Daniel Leonard Boerhey in the foyer.

Daniel Leonard teaches astronomy at Newcastle University in the UK. She studies how gravity bends light as it passes large groups of galaxies. Using these measurements, she tries to learn more about the universe and how it works.

Leonard takes the audience through the key moments of last century’s cosmology. He talks about the discovery of the expanding universe and the cosmic background radiation. He also discusses the ongoing quest by researchers mapping billions of galaxies to discover more about dark matter and dark energy.
