A 104-year-old American woman has reportedly set a new world record. At her age, Dorothy Hoffner is the oldest woman ever to attempt a skydive. I did so in Ottawa, a town southwest of Chicago, at Skydive Chicago Airport.

Before crawling to her harness, she put the walker aside. “It was very comfortable. I had to keep myself awake so I could enjoy the scenery,” Hofner said after landing. On Sunday, Hofner did a tandem jump of at least four kilometers in seven minutes. Skydive Chicago is now trying to set that record Guinness World Records record. The previous record was held by Sweden’s Linnéa Ingegärd Larsson (103). It sank in May 2022.
