Louis de Funes: The Exhibition – Current Cinema

For its first major exhibition, the Palace in Brussels chose the atypical profession of an icon of French cinema: Louis de Funes.

French cinema from Paris produced this exhibition, which was very well received by the public and the press last year. The exhibition will be held from October 2 to January 16, 2022.

The show highlights Louis de Funes’ inspirations and comedic genius that propelled him to the top of the box office at the age of 50. This exhibition is an invitation to discover the actor in all his aspects through a collection of nearly 150 works. Like the car from Le Corniaud and the costumes from Les Aventures de Rabbi Jacob and La Soupe aux choux. But there are also photos, documents, sculptures, drawings, paintings… and fragments of movies that will make you want to watch all these great classics (again)!

Programming:
On the occasion of this exhibition, the Palace is programming a selection of twenty Dutch subtitled films in which the audience can (re)discover Louis de Funes (La Traverse de Paris, Le Gendarm de Saint Tropez, La Soup au Chaux, Le Corneaud., La Grande Vadrouille, La Folie des grandeurs, Les Aventures de Rabbi Jacob, Hibernatus, L’aile ou la Cuisine, L’homme orchester…)

events:
Many characters will testify at event shows about their love for Louis de Funes and what it means to them. The first event will take place on September 9 with director Nabil Ben Yader (Les Barons, Dead Hoek) presenting his coup de cœur Les Aventures de Rabbi Jacob by Gérard Oury.
There will be meetings, conferences and activities for children throughout the duration of the exhibition.
