Four years after he achieved international success with girl, Lukas Dhont is competing for his second feature film this year close To the Golden Palm at the Cannes Film Festival. The Darden brothers are also competing with their movie Tori and Lukita.
“Close” is about two teenage friends, Leo and Oscar, who grow up separate and face a tragic event. The film has a budget of 3.5 million euros. The cast mainly consists of new young talents and Emily Deakin.
In 2018, Lukas Dhont made a name for himself on Croisette with his first movie girlpresented in the section Un Certain RegardWhich earned him four awards. He received the Caméra d’Or, Best Debut Award in all divisions.

Tori and Lukita Written by Luc and Jean-Pierre Dardenne, the film is about two exiles, with an unbreakable bond, who come to settle in Belgium.
Both directors are regular directors in Cannes, having already twice gone home with the Golden Palm in their back pocket. once before Rashid (1999), incidentally with Emilie Dequenne in the lead role, as well as for l’Enfant (2005).
The 75th edition of the Cannes Film Festival will take place in the French coastal city from May 17-28.
