A spokesperson for the ministry said that the number of Dutch people in Sudan with whom the foreign ministry is actively communicating has risen to 134. The department assumes there are more Dutch people in Sudan.

On Friday, Minister Wopke Hoekstra (Foreign Affairs) reported that there had been contact with 110 Dutch people. On Thursday it was still 87 Dutch. In Jordan, planes are ready to evacuate the Dutch as quickly as possible. Until now that was too dangerous.

On Saturday, the Sudanese army announced that it would facilitate evacuations of civilians and diplomats from the United States, United Kingdom, France and China. These countries are explicitly mentioned. It is not yet known whether the Sudanese army will also offer the Netherlands an opportunity to evacuate its citizens.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs again advises Dutch citizens in Sudan to register with the Information Service for Foreign Affairs. In this way, the ministry “obtains the best possible picture of those in the country,” according to its website.
