Morocco is among the best cinema locations in the world

A ranking of an online travel agency specializing in holidays, tours and beach holidays showed that Morocco is among the top 10 filming locations in the world, with 31 films, including action films such as “James Bond”, “Mission Impossible” and “Men in Black”.

The United States tops online travel agency Kuoni’s rankings with 1,523 films shot in the country. Followed by the United Kingdom (778 films), France (170 films), Italy (127 films), and Canada (105 films). Spain comes in fifth place (61 films), followed by Germany (57 films), Mexico (55 films), and Australia (34 films).

Kuoni has also compiled a ranking of the most searched movie sites in the world. The United States dominates the rankings with “Casablanca” (1942) (60,500 searches). This is followed by the American films “Stand By Me” (60,500 searches), “Carol” (40,500 searches) and “Sweet Home Alabama” (40,500 searches).

The movie “Gladiator”, which was filmed in the city of Ouarzazate in southern Morocco, the headquarters of Atlas Studios, is the fifth most searched site on the Google search engine, with a total of 22,000 searches.

Atlas Studios is one of the largest film studios in the world, built in 1986 by the Al Salam Hotel chain on a 25-hectare site. Many huge productions have been filmed there, such as “Gladiator”, “Kingdom of Heaven”, “Game of Thrones”, “Vikings” and “Prison Break”.
