Nintendo CEO Discusses Switch Pro rumors

CEO Shuntaro Furukawa was asked about the Switch Pro rumors

Recently, we’ve been hearing more and more rumors that Nintendo is working on a new Switch model. So far, Nintendo hasn’t announced anything about a possible Switch Pro. The latest rumors date back to the end of May. At the time, Bloomberg news site claimed there would be a reveal before E3 2021. This was also just a rumor.

The topic was brought up again at Nintendo’s most recent shareholder meeting. Nintendo CEO Shuntaro Furukawa was asked about the Switch Pro rumors. His answer is roughly translated as:

“We use Nintendo Direct to communicate information about individual products to our customers at the right times. Going forward, Nintendo will continue to focus on providing our unique and original way of playing. Using our hardware-specific integrated video game platform to provide fun and grow our business. We are constantly developing hardware software and accessories. However, I cannot make any statements about specific products in development.”

In short, the Nintendo Switch Pro could still be in development. It is clear from Furukawa’s answer that it will only be announced by Nintendo Direct. Still speculations yet.
