Nintendo Switch 2 shown in studios at Gamescom

Rumors about a possible successor to the Nintendo Switch are gaining momentum again. For example, Nintendo was going to show off the new console to several studios behind closed doors at Gamescom.

We get the news via Eurogamer. The website notes that Nintendo gave presentations to various studios and also showed technical demos to show the power of the hardware.

One of the demos is said to be an enhanced version of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, which was developed to showcase the console’s more powerful specs. Eurogamer points out that it was a tech demo and probably only part of the game. After all, there’s no indication that the upgrade from Breath of the Wild is coming to the Switch’s successor.

Also remarkably, VGC confirms Eurogamer’s story. The outlet also mentions that the Matrix Awakens Unreal Engine 5 technical demo from Epic Games is playable on the device as well. The demo was initially shown to demonstrate the power of next-generation consoles such as the PS5 and Xbox Series X. According to VGC, the demo will also use Nvidia DLSS upscaling technology and advanced ray tracing. The successor to the Switch made a very powerful console.

Although Nintendo itself has yet to say a word about the new console, countless fans are speculating on the Nintendo Switch successor in 2024. The publisher has stated that it wants to make the transition to the new console as smooth as possible.
