Galaxy A53 phone update: One UI 6.1 interface

Now that Samsung has completed the upgrade to One UI 6.1 — largely including Galaxy AI — for the Galaxy S and Z series, more and more devices in the A series are getting their turn. These devices get various improvements but do not have AI functionality. Last week, you could download One UI 6.1 on the Galaxy A54 and A34, and today it’s the Galaxy A53’s turn.

The massive download brings the firmware version A536BXXU9EXDC to the phone. The new firmware does several things, but one thing it doesn’t: the security patch remains with April. However, Samsung’s One UI will be updated to version 6.1. We’ll give you the full list of changes here – and you’ll find them on your phone itself if you can download the update.

However, Samsung has improved a lot in the various photo and video editing options. You can now easily copy objects from one image to another, for example. Search function in Gallery It’s been improved, and you can customize background images in new ways. You can protect your phone’s battery from corrosion in more ways.

The new upgrade also fixes the “copy bug” that has been present in One UI 6.0 since the Android 14 upgrade. Unfortunately, One UI 6.1 seems to be causing increased power consumption on some phones, although we don’t know yet if this is the case. This is also the case with the Galaxy A53.

Availability

You can now download the One UI 6.1 upgrade directly at Unbranded Galaxy A53 in the Netherlands, Belgium and the rest of Europe. You can wait until you receive an automatic notification, or start manually via Settings -> Software Update -> Download and Install.

We’re also expecting this upgrade on the Galaxy A33 in the short term – with any luck later today, or in the coming days.

(Thanks Sharon!)
