Ostend Film Festival announces new date | showbiz

It hasn’t been certain for long, but the bullet is now running through the church: This year’s Ostend Film Festival will take place from March 4-12, 2022, roughly two months later than originally scheduled in January. “It has been a long-term task, but we can finally launch the 14th edition of the Ostend Film Festival into the world!” Technical Director Peter Kremersch says. “I am proud of our team who managed to put together an outstanding program in very challenging circumstances. We look forward to meetings between our audience and makers and to experience the delivering power of cinema once again. Launching the Barometer now allows us to start the festival’s last straight streak with peace of mind.”

As previously announced by FFO, Peter Monsaert’s inaugural Nowhere will be moved to March – with an official release on April 6 – along with most programming. Some films have already been released in February and have been replaced by new titles. “Thanks to the distributors’ tremendous flexibility, we have been able to retain a large portion of the programming. In addition, we will also be adding some new titles.”

The Ensors Awards – the Flemish Film and Television Awards – and the Jamies – the Flemish Online Video Content Awards – are also in motion. The Ensors Gala will take place on Saturday 12 March in Kursaal Ostend and the De Jamies Awards presentation will take place on Wednesday 9 March at the De Grote Post.
