Rowan Atkinson reveals he doesn’t want to play Mr Bean because he sees it as ‘stressful and tiring’

He was in the middle of making Mr. Bean’s animated film.

But Rowan Atkinson has revealed that he does not enjoy playing the popular character.

The 65-year-old actor played the title role in the successful series from 1990 to 1995, starring in the 1997 film Bean and the 2007 film Mr. Beans Holiday, but has now admitted that he finds the role of ‘stress and fatigue’.

Speaks in the upcoming issue Radio Times, Rowan said: ‘After creating the animated TV series, we are now in the process of making an animated film for Mr. Bean – it’s easy for me to voice that character rather than visually.

‘I didn’t enjoy playing him much. The weight of responsibility is not pleasant. I find it stressful and tiring and look forward to its end.

“I really don’t like the process of creating anything – except for BlackAuder, the responsibility for making that series fun was not only mine, it was on many shoulders.”

Johnny English star is not surprised about the success of his character: ‘Mr. Bean’s success never surprised me.

‘It’s basically fun to watch an adult behave childishly without knowing his irrelevance in the distance.

‘It’s true that comedy is more about visual than verbal, and it’s more successful internationally.’

Rowan wrote and starred in the blockchain between 1983 and 1989, and the most optimistic thing he could have about a renaissance was that it was ‘certainly not impossible’.

Asked if Edmund could reappear, he said: ‘This is certainly not impossible. It’s as trustworthy as I can be, I can not guess when it will be set.

‘But block order refers to the creative energy we all had in the 80s. Trying to copy for 30 years is not easy. ‘
