Rumor: Developers will no longer be able to bring new games to Wii U and 3DS eShop from April 2022

In less than a year, adoption of new games will actually cease.

According to the latest rumors, Nintendo is preparing to stop accepting new games in the eShop for the Nintendo 3DS and Wii U. Impact Game Station may believe. In April 2022, Nintendo will no longer accept and categorize new titles, right at the start of the new fiscal year. Impact Game Station claims to have received this information via email, most likely from a developer who received information about it.

Anyway, it’s clear that Nintendo is now putting all of its focus on the Nintendo Switch. The number of games released on the Wii U and Nintendo 3DS has also decreased significantly recently. So it is certainly not unreasonable for the message to be true. According to the information, the eShop will still be available for both Wii U and Nintendo 3DS. The information that will be in the respective email is related to the following. For now, this is a rumor and we’ll have to wait and see if Nintendo comes out with a statement about it.

We would like to inform you here that it has been decided to stop accepting orders for new Nintendo 3DS / Wii U titles for an eShop release by the end of the current fiscal year (effective April 1, 2022). These new titles must be approved within 3 months after the application deadline.

Nintendo 3DS/Wii U eShops will remain active and patch submissions will continue to be processed until further notice.

Please take these deadlines into account when planning the upcoming Nintendo 3DS and Wii U digital releases.

Thank you very much for your continued understanding and support for Nintendo 3DS and Wii U consoles over the past years.

Best Regards,
