Repairing your smartphone can seem like a terrifying prospect. Knowing that your mobile phone is full of personal information, photos, and sensitive apps in the hands of a stranger never feels good.
When you activate repair mode, your phone will restart and you will no longer be able to access your personal data like photos, messages, and accounts. It is only possible to use applications that are installed by default.
This means you can hand your smartphone over to a shop repair without worrying about your data or having to back it up and reset your phone.
It is still unclear when this feature will be available to Samsung users. We know that the S21 series will receive the feature first. However, it is likely that Samsung will roll out this update by region as this is common for the South Korean company.
Analysis: Time to go to Samsung
2022 was a good year for Samsung users with multiple updates that introduced new features.
Of course, new features from its flagship models are quickly carried over to older ones, but this year Samsung went even further. For example, the company recently launched its Photoshop-like Enhance-X app that lets you use artificial intelligence to enhance photos. Even photos that were not taken with a Samsung phone.
Samsung appears to be following the Google model. The company regularly introduced new tools and features for Pixel phones with so-called “Pixel Feature Drops”.
Because of these updates, and four years of guaranteed software updates, now is a great time to get Samsung.
