Shygirl releases mermaid album

Produced by Object & Animal and shot on location in Sweden, the sensual video in which Shygirl shows off everything is the most intimate movie we’ve seen of her so far. It follows the Nymph show “Nike” that premiered with Shygirl’s fast-paced performance of the song, “Coochie (Bedtime Story)”, which was on BBC Radio 1 and is currently on the station’s B-list, “Come to Me” produced by Arca, and “Fire Fly”, whose pictures were directed by Yasser Abu Bakr.

Along with the track and video, this week Shygirl was announced as a new Spotify RADAR UK artist to watch. Spotify’s RADAR program aims to support emerging artists on their path, assist emerging talent at all stages of their development, and strengthen their bond with their fans and new audience. Additionally, this week Shygirl was also revealed as one of the Calvin Klein stars presenting the Calvins or Nothing Underwear campaign.

The 12 tracks of Nymph were created with a close group of friends and former collaborators including Sega Bodega, Karma Kid, Cosha, Mura Masa and as previously mentioned by Arca. Shygirl has also worked with producers Noah Goldstein, Danny L Harle, BloodPop, Vegyn, and The Kingdom. Nymph reveals Shygirl’s inner self-reflection in experimental vocal tones and disjointed dance melodies, demonstrating a new level of intimacy and emotional depth in songwriting.

Nymph follows Shygirl’s collaboration with FKA Branches on the Caprisongs track “Papi Bones” and with Mura Masa on his tracks “bbycakes” and “hollaback bitch,” along with the late 2021 release “Cleo,” which was accompanied by music directed by Trinity Ellis, a video and performance Live for the track from Abbey Road Studio as part of Studio 1’s 90th anniversary programming. In 2021, Shygirl also shared the Thai slow-motion collaboration “BDE” and Burberry’s self-directed short film, Shygirl BLU, a live-action realization of her critically acclaimed ALIAS EP.

Since the release of ALIAS EP, Shygirl has starred in Burberry’s AW21 show, earned a coveted spot in Forbes’ 30 Under 30, appeared on the cover of several prestigious magazines including ES and V Magazine, and collaborated with Mura Masa on a remix of Lady Gaga’s song and Blackpink “Sour Candy” from the popular Dawn of Chromatica album.

Shygirl plays at Primavera Sound in Brazil, Chile and Argentina in November. It will also return to the UK to headline Printworks and Albert Hall in London and Manchester respectively in December of this year and enter 2023 with shows at Beyond the Valley Festival and Field Day in Australia.
