Stefano Manzi won the second World Supersport race of the Pirelli Emilia-Romagna circuit at Misano on Sunday afternoon. Not only was it the Italian’s first victory for Ten Cat Racing Yamaha, it was also the Dutch team’s 100th World Supersport win.

After Stefano Manzi managed a difficult qualifying to second place earlier in the day, the Italian and his Ten Gate Racing Yamaha crew knew there was more potential in Race 2 on Sunday. From eleventh on the grid, the Italian, in action in front of his home crowd, drove a fantastic opening phase and already reached the podium positions after four laps.

With a very clever and surprising overtaking manoeuvre, Mansi took the lead from Niccolò Buleca on the last lap, who was then able to take the lead thanks to a good defensive work. As a result, Mansi crossed the finish line as the winner and took his first World Supersport win in the service of Ten Cat Racing Yamaha. He gave the New Zealand team their hundredth victory in the World Supersport class, a major achievement for the successful Dutch team.

Stefano Manzi: “It was a great day for us. I already had a good pace in the warm-up and I started well in the race. I immediately made up a lot of positions until I got behind Niccolo. [Bulega] came We switched positions a few times at first, but we played it smart. As our pace was good, I decided not to get in his way too much. Eventually I got in front of him on the last lap and managed to defend my position until the end. It was an amazing race and I finally got my first win with Ten Cat Racing and Yamaha. I’m really happy with this performance and it’s even better to do it in front of my home crowd!

Kerwin Bose – Ten Gate Racing Team Manager: Stefano again spiced up the weekend, as did Barcelona. This time he managed to complete it in a perfectly driven race. He made the best of it and scored on the last lap. It’s his first win at Ten Gate Racing and hopefully we’ve broken a barrier to attack for the championship.

The next race weekend for Ten Cat Racing Yamaha is scheduled for the weekend of June 30-July 2, when the sixth round of the championship will take place at Donington Park in the United Kingdom.
