At the Municipal Sports Center on Sportlaan in Meerhout, the local government has opened a completely new tartan track to the public. The lines and installation of the automatic lighting system will follow soon.

The old gravel track, worn on the wire, was removed at the end of June 2020. In the summer months, a specialist company built a tartan track around the B stadium of FC Berg en Dal football club. Runners can now use our brand new track. In the next phase, the lines are applied. The runner area has eight lanes, and the rest of the track has six lanes. It is currently possible to walk from sunrise to sunset. Soon the automatic lighting system will also be ready and you can walk When it gets dark. Then the lights turn on automatically when there are runners on the track,” says Alderman of Sport Roger Verheyen (CD). The construction of the Tartan Trail is part of a broader expansion and renovation plan for the Municipal Sports Centre.
