The political economy of populism

The media and politicians have an economic and political interest in fomenting defamation and defamation. Thanks to the rise of the internet and social media, this has become even more useful. Mass media is nothing new. But modern media has proven to be an incredibly effective technology at generating noise and smearing. In the beginning, the Internet was still seen as an inexhaustible source of independent information that would ensure greater control of the existing political power. There is now very little of that left due to the rise of social media platforms, such as Facebook, Twitter, and later Instagram and TikTok.
