An Afghan translator who helped incumbent President Joe Biden in 2008 succeeded in escaping the country with his family. That BBC reports.
A US State Department representative confirmed to the BBC on Monday that “Aman Khalili and his family have safely left Afghanistan and Pakistan as well.” “This was done with extensive help from senior US government officials, and we thank all the others who have supported him along the way.”

Khalili, his wife and five children have been trying to get out of the country since August. Finally, he asked Biden to help himself. “I trust him,” Khalili told CNN. “I am sure he can arrange everything.”
The Human First Coalition, an organization that has already accompanied more than 200 Afghans to Pakistan, has also helped Khalili’s family. “We are very grateful for the United States’ assistance in bringing President Biden’s interpreter and family to safety,” the organization said.
