Everyone knows the “Never use your name or a string of numbers” as a password. However, not many people follow this slogan. According to ID Agent, which released a list of the most stolen passwords on the dark web in 2020. The results are in line with expectations.

The dark web is a part of the World Wide Web that is not directly accessible to search engines. It can only be accessed through a specific browser and it ensures the anonymity of the users.

3 million passwords checked

The US company’s ID agent, which monitors the dark web, made a list of the most stolen passwords on the dark web in 2020. They scanned at least 3 million passwords.

Top 250 posts show that people are still hitting the same stone. For example, consecutive number combinations, names, and famous people or personalities still dominate the list. 59% of Americans still use a person’s name or birthdate to secure an account, 33% choose a pet’s name, and 22% use their own names.
