UEFA awards the 2028 and 2032 European Championships to multiple countries | sports

The United Kingdom and Ireland will jointly organize the European Football Championship in 2028. UEFA has officially designated the event to the countries. This is not a real surprise anymore, because Türkiye has withdrawn from this tournament.

The Turkish Federation decided to focus on organizing the European title clash with Italy in 2032. The European Football Association chose these two countries to host that European Championship.

The matches of the United Kingdom (England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland) and Ireland will be held at Wembley (London), Hampden Park (Glasgow), Principality Stadium (Cardiff), Aviva (Dublin), and Casement. ). A total of ten courts have been allocated.

England previously organized the 1966 World Cup and Euro 1996 finals, while many Euro 2020 matches were held at Wembley and Hampden Park. Last year’s Women’s European Football Championship was also held in England. The host country won the European title.

Initially, Turkey also submitted its candidacy, but the Turks felt that the bid from the UK and Ireland was ahead and withdrew to focus on Euro 2032. Italy was also a candidate, but last summer both countries announced their entry into the EU. Make it a joint nomination.

Thus Turkey, which has repeatedly failed to organize major football tournaments in the past, ensures joint organisation. UEFA has yet to fiddle with its own regulations, as the regulating countries must in principle be neighboring countries as well.

The next European Championship will be in Germany next year.
