Weather: Cold wind – max today

Air pressure distribution in Europe seems to be full of rivets. There has been a persistent high pressure area somewhere over the UK since mid-May, while low pressure areas have been rotating over the Mediterranean. If that high-pressure area occurs over Scandinavia, easterly, warm air will be more likely.

High pressure area

But now the high pressure area is slightly more to the west and the winds are mostly in the northern corner. From central Europe and France, storm complexes are approaching at a snail’s pace. Chances of rain will gradually increase from the weekend of June 10 and 11. As the top layer of soil is now considerably dry, the rain is welcome.

Tailwind

Meanwhile I am looking for when I can go out in my inflatable kayak again. Lately it has been constantly windy and my boat and arm muscles are not strong enough to withstand the force of the wind 4. Yes, with a tail wind, but not if I have to paddle against it. The weather is always good for wind turbines and solar panels. In the week of 21 to 27 May 2023, the share of renewable electricity in the Netherlands is not less than 64 percent of the electricity consumed in the Netherlands. More than half of it is solar powered. Anyone who has looked around in the last 2 years has clearly seen the addition of many wind turbines and solar panels. My own roof will be done in August.
