A 25-year-old man was arrested near the French city of Lyon while walking around with his father’s head in one hand and a knife in the other. French media reported that the officers who were summoned were threatened by the suspect.

A 60-year-old man was beheaded with a knife on Saturday evening in the town of Saint-Priest in Lyon. According to the French newspaper Le Figaro, his 25-year-old son was immediately arrested. According to the Lyon Prosecutor’s Office, the young man cut off his father’s head with a kitchen knife.
The National Police was said to have received a call from the local police during the night after a decapitated body was discovered in a parking lot. A source told the French newspaper, “The local police later reported that a man was walking around with his head in one hand and a knife in the other.”
Police officers managed to arrest the man. He was going to try to stab them first, but no one was hurt. Actolion said the man shouted “Allahu Akbar” at the police. Agence France-Presse reported that the man was known to police due to previous family quarrels and other abuses. The man will not be known for extremism.
“A motive is now being sought and an investigation is underway into the perpetrator’s background,” the Public Prosecution said.
