Bjorn Olvaius and Benny Anderson are not immediately interested in writing a song for the British for the Eurovision Song Contest. Only when a job is done really well, like Dua Lipa, does the male half of ABBA want to think about.

Anderson told the BBC on Friday: “Choosing to act is one thing, but writing a song is another story. You need a good song and a good deed.” “What if we want to write the British entry? I don’t know.”

Ulvaeus reacted less hesitantly. He clearly said “No”. Then Anderson asked, “But what are the risks?” “It can’t get much worse than the previous one.”

“It must be a very good business,” continued Ulvaeus, after which the gentlemen agreed that Dua Lipa must do it.

At the end of last month, it became clear that TaP Music, the management behind Dua Lipa, would select the next British participant in the Eurovision Song Contest. The company is stepping in after the UK came in last with James Newman last year.

Ulvaeus and Andersson were with ABBA in 1974 for the first time at the Eurovision Song Contest with the song Waterloo.
