Air tickets to Morocco are popular after borders reopen for foreign travelers | for travel

The airline plunged into reservations after it was announced last week that Morocco would reopen most of its borders. This led to long queues, including in front of the Royal Air Maroc office in Brussels. RAM also received many visitors and even crashed on Monday after a tidal wave of 120,000 bookings in 24 hours. Several flights have already been fully booked until the end of August. The airline is now trying to lease eight additional planes.

The King of Morocco, on Sunday, asked all carriers, especially Royal Air Maroc, to ensure affordable prices for all members of the Moroccan community residing abroad.

Each year, Morocco campaigns to bring the millions of Moroccans living abroad to the country during the summer holidays to visit their families and spend the money. The campaign was canceled last year due to the pandemic and this year too it will be difficult for Moroccans who want to spend their summer holidays in the country.

The government in Rabat has officially banned Spanish ports from transporting travelers to Morocco for health reasons. There has been a deep diplomatic crisis between the two countries for several weeks now, leading to the closure of the Strait of Gibraltar.

Ferries sail to and from the airport again, but not via the shortest and cheapest route. In 2019, more than 3.2 million people traveled to Morocco from Spanish ports on ferries. Ferry services now operate from Sète and Marseille in France and Genoa in Italy via a long distance to Morocco. The Moroccan authorities are said to be negotiating with their Portuguese colleagues to use the port of Portimão as an alternative to the Spanish ports. Portimão is located in southern Portugal about 280 kilometers northwest of Tangiers in Morocco.
