British airline British Airways will reduce flights at main London Heathrow airport over Easter due to a strike by ground staff at the airport. More than 1,400 security guards at Heathrow want to lay off ten days from March 31 to demand higher wages, which will also affect the busy Easter weekend, according to Unite.

The airline did not disclose further details about the cancellations, but according to the BBC, British Airways plans to cancel 32 flights to and from Heathrow airport per day. The largest airport in the United Kingdom is home to the airline. BA has already apologized to affected customers for the inconvenience and says they can rebook to another flight or request a refund.

Heathrow itself indicates that additional staff will be deployed to reduce the impact of the strike on air traffic as much as possible. The airport speaks of unnecessary work. Unite says security guards don’t earn enough to make ends meet, so a strike is necessary.
