A Dutch girl was stabbed early Thursday afternoon in the Swedish city of Gothenburg. According to the Swedish police, a 9-year-old boy was shot in the stomach. She has serious injuries but is now stable. Her grandmother was also injured. A 35-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted double homicide.

The stabbing took place on Thursday afternoon at around 12.35pm in the central Brunsparken square. The girl was hit in the stomach and was taken to Queen Silvia Children’s Hospital. The police believe she is a randomly selected victim.
It concerned a girl from the Netherlands who was visiting her Swedish grandparents, according to a local police spokesperson. The grandmother was also stabbed and sustained minor injuries to her arm.
