Just a little longer…
Can’t wait for the South Korean luxury brand Genesis to arrive in the Netherlands? Then we have bad news: it won’t happen in 2024, anyway.
Genesis, Hyundai’s luxury brand, has been active in Germany, Switzerland and the United Kingdom since 2021. The brand is taking things easy in those countries and explicitly says that it first wants to put current affairs in order before thinking about European expansion. Last year we spoke with brand representatives in Germany, and it turns out that not much can be said about Genesis’ arrival in the Netherlands. He added: “2024 has been cautiously mentioned, but that is not certain at all.” We wrote after that.
Turns out that caution was for good reason, because a Genesis representative is now telling AutoWeek that Genesis won’t be coming to the Netherlands for the time being. “European expansion plans are still in place, but they will not start in 2024. Next year we will focus on expanding the number of customer touchpoints in Germany and the UK and start working with merchants. Expansion to other countries will be postponed until 2025 and will continue in subsequent years. It will happen This European expansion is in the form of “waves”, that is, a series of several countries at once. The PR man continues: “The Netherlands is part of this expansion, but it has not yet been determined which ‘wave’ the country will fall into.” This also makes it impossible to say what year Genesis will come to the Netherlands, but it is definitely not 2024.
We will wait patiently again. As a dessert, we’ve got a couple of test videos for you, because we’ve already driven the electric Genesis Electrified G80 and the non-electric G70 Shooting Brake.
