Genshin Impact Update 2.7 has been postponed indefinitely

Genshin Impact Update 2.7.1 It has been postponed indefinitely. Developer MiHoYo announced this via Twitter.

MiHoYo offers no explanation for the delay beyond the implied indication that development of the update is slower than expected.

“Due to the progress of the process, the update to version 2.7 has been delayed,” the developer said in a tweet. “More detailed information about the new update, new timing for additional content, and compensation will be provided in upcoming announcements. We will provide more information to travelers as soon as possible. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience. Thank you for your support and understanding.”

The delay is likely related to the current situation in China. Several major cities, including Shanghai, are in very strict coronavirus lockdowns. MiHoYo is headquartered in Shanghai.

The developer recently opened a new branch in Montreal, Canada. Within two years, 100 employees will be employed there to work on a new high-budget open world action adventure game. This game will be a shooting game in a world with supernatural elements.
