Imprisoned Russian opponent Alexei Navalny is ill but ‘left untreated’. This was stated by his lawyer, Vadim Kobzev, on Twitter on Tuesday.
“On the night from Friday to Saturday, an ambulance was called because the stomach pain worsened,” it seems.
He added that the 46-year-old Navalny suffers from an “unprecedented disease that no one is taking care of.”
According to his lawyer, the imprisoned politician lost 8 kilograms in the past 15 days. Also, the medicines his mother would send him would simply be returned.
According to Kobzev, his client is experiencing “crises”. And he “does not rule out” that this is an attempt by the Russian authorities to “deteriorate Navalny’s health. Not suddenly, but systematically.”
Kobzev said he would demand “toxicological and radiological investigations”.
Navalny’s lawyers have sounded the alarm about their client’s health since he was imprisoned in Russia. In 2021, a critic of the Kremlin went on hunger strike because he was denied access to a doctor of his choice. Navalny is also regularly placed in isolation in prison.
Navalny was arrested upon his return to Russia in January 2021. In March of that year, he was sentenced to nine years in prison for fraud.
