Mental health: from all of us

Mental Health Week starts today. This week is part of a broader social movement. This movement ensures that it becomes ‘normal’ for us to look at each other and monitor the mental health of ourselves and each other. Schools, cultural institutions, youth associations, municipalities and employers organize activities during this week to promote mental health.

Good mental health includes:

  • you are more positive in life,
  • Experiencing less stress and
  • Deal better with setbacks in your business or private life.

There also appears to be a link between good mental health and a longer life expectancy. This is partly because you recover faster from physical ailments. At the same time, staying healthy and maintaining it is not always easy. A reason to look together at how we can help people strengthen their mental health.

Mental Health Week is part of the ‘Mental Health: From All of Us’ approach. With this approach, the government wants to make mental health a topic of discussion and visibility. We do this with young people, workers, residents in vulnerable situations and social partners. We also want to provide tools to improve the mental health of ourselves and others and to prevent or identify complaints in a timely manner.

The aim of this approach is:

  • that young people feel good about themselves,
  • Workers can do their work with energy, pleasure and
  • People in a supine position receive additional support when necessary.

Because: mental health belongs to us all.
