Pence storming the Capitol: “Trump is responsible”

Former Vice President of the United States Mike Pence criticized the US President, during whose term he served Donald Trump. “His reckless words endangered my family and everyone who was in the Capitol that day.”

“President Trump was wrong,” Mike Pence said in a speech at a gala dinner on Saturday night. For the first time, the former vice president has publicly criticized Trump. During his speech, he spoke at length about the January 6, 2021 storming of the Capitol. The attackers were targeting him, among other things. They demanded that Pence amend the election results in favor of Trump.

“He has no right to change the election results,” Pence said. His reckless words endangered my family and everyone in the Capitol that day. Donald Trump is responsible for that. He calls the day in question a “stain”. “Citizens have the right to know what happened that day.”

Pence has been mentioned as a potential Republican presidential candidate. The man was vague about it in his speech. “I will fully support the Republican nominee in 2024,” he said. “Even if you are.”
