Rust comes to PS4, Xbox One, and next-gen console

Rust Facepunch, in collaboration with Developer Double, will launch the popular survival game Rust on its various consoles. The game will be released for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Next Gen thanks to backward compatibility. The console version will be released on May 21, 2021.

On March 26, Double Eleven released a blog post about the console version of Rust, and they also featured a teaser trailer. The blog post explains the differences between the PC version and the console version. Rust Console is based on PC version but has been developed and optimized for a unique and premium console experience. Double Eleven has been in talks with developer Facepunch for the Rust console version since 2016. The console is released in a different world where the PC version can be expanded as needed without sacrificing performance as long as players keep updating their devices. On console, hardware cannot be upgraded so game should be better optimized.

The Rust Console version follows its own update roadmap, which is different from the PC version. Double Eleven hasn’t released this roadmap yet, but the studio is promising to reveal more content as the release date approaches in May.
