Science Day offers kids and adults a range of over 800 activities

“Science is everywhere. It is not hidden in a dusty laboratory or buried somewhere under a dense pile of books, no, on the contrary,” says Minister Jo Bruns (CD&V), the Flemish Minister of Science and Innovation. “Our colleges, research institutions, museums, STEM academies and universities show the general public what they have to offer in an accessible way.”

Minister Bruns, accompanied by Technopolis CEO Stefan Bergmans, will go to the Diepenbeek Campus on Sunday morning, where UHasselt University and PXL University of Applied Sciences will tour the latest ICT technologies and climate chambers. There, researchers from the University of Limburg create ideal conditions for plant growth.

The full list of activities, all of which are free, can be found via www.dagvandekennis.be, where participants can easily filter by location, topic, age and register if necessary. Those who prefer to enjoy science at home can participate in one of 127 digital activities at any time.

Flag Day is an initiative of the Flemish Government and is coordinated by Technopolis. Weatherman Frank Deboosere and Angelique Van Ombergen, Science Coordinator at the European Space Agency (ESA), are the godmothers of this science event.
